Very little news this week. A big thank you to all the people who have sent in messages, photos and phone calls letting me know how their dogs are doing in all types of gundog work, from flighting, wildfowling, deerstalking, picking up and beating. Being in the beating line even if as a novice your dog starts off on a lead it is one of the best ways of introducing you and your dog to field sports. I’d like to thank everyone for photos and videos of their dogs working, showing some amazing retrieves over many obstacles. Kirsty Watts sent a lovely photo of her German imported bitch flushing duck out of the reeds on one of the four shoots she beats on. Determined to retrieve something, Eiche is jumping out of the water with a stick in her mouth!
Thanking Kirsty also for her show results from Mid Herts Gundog Premier Open Show. BOB Oakmarsh Freedom SGWC; BP Oakmarsh Little Acorn, breed judge Linda Best (Hailsharn), and then then short listed in the Puppy Group under judge Mike Blay.
The next day it was East Kent Canine Society. BP & RBB AVNSC Gundog Oakmarsh Little Acorn, then short listed in the Puppy Group. Judge for both Trudy Short (Parkmist). She then went on to win the Junior Stakes class from an entry of 49, winning £30. Judge Anne Webb (Barronoaks).
Other results Kirsty has sent are Torquay & District Canine Society, Blaber’s Oakmarsh Laural under judge Barbera Cherry won AVNSC 1st Post Graduate, BP & Best AVNSC and then to top it all came 3rd in the Gundog Puppy Group. At Minehead and District Open Show Oakmarsh Laural won another BP AVNSC Gundog.
