I was hugely saddened to receive the news that Ronnie Anderson has passed away. Ronnie and Karen Anderson lived on their farm near Monrovia most of their married life. Together they created and owned the world famous Chestnut Hills Chesapeakes. There are very few pedigrees that will not contain one or more of their Chesapeakes. I first met Karen and Ron in the 80s, their main passion with the dogs was in showing. Over the years there is very little they did not win, one of their most noted dogs was CH Chestnut Hills Stone E’s Tug winning BOB (BIS) three times at the ACC National Show Specialty. Ron, 84, was married to Karen for 63 years, they had 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Ron grew up in Washington DC, he always had a love of cars and was well known mechanic and service manager, eventually opening up his own garage in Monrovia. If ever you went to visit them Ron would show off his cars before you got to see the dogs. He loved cars, he loved fast American muscle cars the best – enjoying drag racing, both on and off the track and car shows.

I cannot remember ever going to a National Specialty where the Anderson’s were not there. Ron never handled the dogs but he was Karen’s constant support. Hard working , quiet and easy to get on with he always had a chatty nature and was interested in what you were doing yourself.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday the 20th at Frederick MD. The family have said, weather permitting, they would love to see all the cool cars in the procession honouring Ron and his memory.
