It has been an extremely hectic couple of weeks with keepers’ day, beaters’ days, employees’ days, tenants farmers’ days and the odd extra day squeezed in. I don’t think I have ever eaten so many sausage rolls and soups before. After a short rest it will be straight into training ready for next season.

It is with much sadness that I let you know that Josh – SH CH Longmeadow Dundela’s McIntosh by AM CH Shallcross Lake’s Chaamp x Longmeadow Appomattox, has left us at aged almost 13. Josh came to the Penrose kennels at 3 years old, we were looking for another stud dog that would increase the gene pool in all the right ways. Of excellent health, great confirmation and a brilliant thick dark brown coat. Josh quickly made show champion, winning 7 CCs in 12 months despite being shown only occasionally. Most importantly Josh was an excellent working dog and a great water dog, his father was a Master Hunter. With his bloodlines we were in no doubt he would train really easily. I did not want to bring a dog that had already been trained with the use of electric collars, electric loin collars, ear pinching or toe pinching. I was looking for a dog that was a natural. We could never thank Laura Chambers for trusting us with this lovely dog. From his first litter came CH Penrose Hash Brown, owned by Caroline Pont. He went on to sire several litters with many of his pups being exported to Europe.
