Mainly show results this week, except for Jason Hayes and his son who were out shooting the moon just before Richmond. Jason said Floki – SH CH Tideflight Floki, had 3 excellent retrieves on geese before noticing what seemed to be a wounded goose way out in the water. These can be the most difficult birds for a dog to retrieve, especially on the foreshore, but Floki had no problem in bringing the goose in. A quick brush down and it was off to the show. How many dogs, any breed, could do this today? A true dual-purpose Chesapeake.
At Richmond Mr Ger Philpott received an entry of 16, 7d, 9b, 1a. BOB, BCC & BV Middleton & Mayhew’s SH CH, INT CH, Multi Arnac Bay Hebe WGC EW22 WW24; RBCC Blaber, Blaber, Laurence & Blaber Oakmarsh Laurel JW; DCC Mahon-Hunns, Hunns & Newton’s SH CH Arnac Bay Huron At Bergelle JW; RDCC Boyles & Boyles SH CH Pixiesrock Mr Tumnus By Bleyos JW; BP Mayhew & McCartney’s BB’s Chesapeake Breeding Dory For Arnac; BSB Corcoran & Jones’ Oakmarsh Kingsley Adsila, who also came 2nd in the BSB Group.
Kirsty Watts said she was thrilled with her Oakmarsh team winning The Breeders Stakes at Richmond, this followed winning The Breeders Stakes at City Of Birmingham last week.
Good news from Ireland, Madeline Cummings messaged to say Goldie – Ire SH CH Penrose Victrix Ludorum after winning BOB on the weekend under Swedish judge Frisk Svante also won her first International CACIB on her journey to Int CH.
For UK and European dogs to become an International Champion CACIBs must be won in different countries, but Ireland being an island it is the judge from another country that does the travelling. Now that’s a thought!
I have always thought that since the Good Citizen came into being we should have a register of all the Chesapeakes that have gone through the 3 different levels, but as it was never published or officially recognised in the beginning it would be incredibly difficult to trace all of the recipients over the years. Today dogs are scanned and the chip number recorded. I still think it would be lovely if all Chesapeakes who have any of the achievements could be recognised in The Club. One owner who has been extremely successful with all of her dogs is Wendy Houlton, who trains and works her dogs through her local club. She let me know with much excitement that Ellie – Penrose Xport Agent, had just gained her Gold certificate, this followed her Silver and Bronze. Her other 2 dogs – Penrose Time To Rumble also gained Gold, Silver and Bronze with Penrose Call Me Ellie Silver and Bronze.
