For years there was no official judging at The Norwegian Chesapeake Club. I was fortunate many years ago to follow Les & Nancy Lowenthal Berteleda Chesapeakes, Southern California to Brit Elis home at Trondheim to an unofficial show and WD. Nancy judged the show and the next day Les and I judged the WD. This was a real insight into understanding the WD program and how it would run. Les, of course, was the creator of the WD, X & Q program. Sadly this no longer exists outside of North America and Canada.

Well done to Joy Middleton who this year travelled all the way to Finnskogen in Norway to show SH CH Arnac Bay Hebe and her daughter Arnac Bay Jellicoe JW. The judge was well known Ronny Blomme who has done much judging in the UK. BIS went to Margunn Tvedton & Heidi Sagengs Multi CH Aquamandas Yogi Bear, by Multi CH Arnac Bay Wantuck x Multi CH Cinnamonscent Tickety-Boo; RBIS Middleton & Mayhews SH CH Arnac Bay Hebe; BP 4-6 months Karen Sodie Skotheims Christmas Cox AV Isvani, by CH Dockcoves Rumrunner x Double Coats Konnebec. I was sent lots of photos from this Chesapeake weekend, Joy looked very patriotic in her eye-catching Union Jack Jacket.

I was disappointed to hear the Carol and David Coode are stepping down from judging. Carol is one of the most respected gundog judges, judging all gundogs all over the world. One of our oldest most experienced judges Carol has awarded CCs in the breed several times. They still plan to exhibit, while Carol has lately become a mentor ringside for the breed.

Kirsty Watts was at Great Yarmouth and Gorleston Open Show winning BOB with CH Oakmarsh Freedom and RBOB with SH CH Oakmarsh Chestnut VW. The judge was Denise Whitehead.

Lorna Murray was at Carlilse and District Canine Society with Muireatai Miracle of Dreams winning 1st AVNSC Open & 1st AV Gundog Open. Takoda Nathan was 3rd in AV Veteran. The judge was Simon Luxmoore.

More good news from across the water in Eire, Madeleine Cummings is off to a great start with Penrose Victrix Ludorum. Gold gaining her last point in just a few weeks to become an Irish Junior Champion. Gold was the top Bitch Puppy in 2024, topped only by her brother Penrose Visual Impact.
