The trip up to Stafford, especially from the South West, on the Thursday of Manchester Championship Show was terrible with thick heavy fog. I hope everyone made it there and back home safely.

Moray Armstrong who last awarded CCs in the breed at Leeds in 2021, received an entry of 20 – 8d 12b. This was the smallest entry of all the gundog CC breeds and the second smallest entry in all of the gundog breeds. There were no absentees and there were no puppies. BOB & DCC Mahon-Hunns & Middleton’s Susqudilla Bergelle Big Apple (imp USA) JW; RDCC Broomfield & Broomfield’s Glaneils Count On Me; BCC Pont’s Amore Of Ridsome (imp IT), this was her first CC by Cib/Cie/Multi CH Nunneyswood Iceberg x Cie CH Double Coats Mary Quant; RBCC & BV Pont’s CH Penrose Hash Brown SGWS.

Kirst Watts who did amazingly well in the Team Stakes in 2024 coming 8th best team all breeds (with a team of puppies) has started this year on a high when winning the Stakes class at Manchester. With prize money of £25 and 30 points towards this year’s team competition. Team members were Laura Blaber with Oakmarsh Laural; Kirst Watts with Oakmarsh Little Acorn; Amy Mellersh-Tett with Oakmarsh Land Of Promise, all litter siblings and Angela Corcoran with Oakmarsh Kingsley Adsila. O Laural was also 2nd in Junior Stakes and short listed in the BSB Group.

Christine Mayhew has imported another puppy, this time from Switzerland breeder Bridgitte Rast, by club member Catharina Lindstrom’s CH Double Coats Christmas Joy who was shown by professional handler Diane Baker to win the ACC National Specialty. The puppy is out of SW-CH Sailorsbay Dorita Argentina Ratones, bred by Mercedes in Argentina with the Sailorsbay Kennels founding her kennels on Chesabar owned by the late Patsy Barber.
