In the summer of 1977 was the beginning of the Boykin Spaniel Society. Many meeting upon meetings and forms back and forward to Boykin owners, a national registry was a recognized breed by national dog registries. Find out more about that Historic Day
In the summer of 1977 the ‘Boykin Spaniel Society®’ was founded in South Carolina and within the first year the Society had over 300 members from 25 states. An official registry for the breed was started in 1979. The Boykin Spaniel Society has now grown to over 4000 members. Members can be found in every state as well in Canada, Switzerland, Austria, France, England, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Africa and Germany.
The first annual National Hunting Test for the Boykin Spaniel Society’s was held May 23, 1980. Competitors have grown steadily in numbers. This attracted dog owners and handlers from all parts of the country. National Field Trials are held twice yearly.
